As you will be aware from the prior messages sent from the Regimental Association, the active unit will be sending a contingent of about 41 Highlanders to the Netherlands to take part in the celebrations to recognize the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands, and Victory in Europe.
While only members of the active Regiment will have a formal role or be parading as part of the celebrations, all members of the Regimental Family are encouraged to travel to the Netherlands and watch the parades and take part in the celebrations.
• Please note there will be no centralized booking of travel or accommodation, and anyone attending will need to manage this themselves.
There are a number of parades, concerts, tattoos, and celebrations taking place each day between May 2nd and May 7th (inclusive) in and around Apeldoorn. A summary is as follows:
May 2 – Tattoo
May 3 – Wreath Laying; Parade and Concert
May 4 – Holten Cemetery, Remembrance Ceremony and Commemoration event
May 5 – Parade
May 6 – Battlefield tour, Mackenzieplaats sign unveiling, Regimental dinner
May 7 – Op Market Garden tour.
Please take note of the dinner with all members of the active Regiment and Regimental family on May 6th.
To organise this dinner, we need to know who will be attending the celebrations.
Please RSVP to brewpaterson@48highrs.onmicrosoft.com by no later than February 28th if you will be attending (including the number of people attending the dinner).
We will also provide a more detailed agenda, including how to register for some of the events, which may have limits to the number of attendees.
DILEAS!
